        Who Are You?

We always encourage pupils to follow what they enjoy and are good at. Some of the websites below identify personal strengths and academic interests. Friends are often very good at identifying your strengths too.

Buzz- Discover what type of character you are
Centigrade Online- COA programme for degree choice (£15-20)

        Our Impact in PSHCE

We encourage our pupils to believe in their talents and abilities, and never discard a dream without chasing it first. Obviously any pupil (current or former) is able to contact us at any point of the year in person or by email or text but there are also occasions in the formal PSHCE programme where we offer specific support for future:

        U6th
        • Participation in our Mock Interview Morning- usually the penultimate Saturday in September- allows pupils to test their interview technique and receive advice from our expert volunteer interviewers.
        • Help is given on constructing a passionate Personal Statement if pupils are applying via UCAS for a degree. Click here for our tips. For those seeking employment or places on competitive gap schemes after A Levels, advice and contacts received here could be essential.
        • This is an event you would be daft not to attend!

        L6th
        • Our '11 Steps' booklet  offers our 6th Form pupils plenty of ideas for staying ahead of their rivals- this item is issued in the Autumn Term. Not only is it a fine aide memoire but it prompts action too.
        • We talk formally to the year 3 times in PSHCE: these sessions cover 'The Options at 18', 'Not Going To Uni' and 'Gap Years'.

        5th Year
        • In September, we talk formally in PSHCE about the Options available at 16, both within Bablake and outside the school.
        • A careers review allows each pupil to talk about his/her own action plan for life beyond GCSE.
        • Our CV Challenge is a fine chance to receive advice on how to compose a CV and Covering Letter- vital tools for future applications.

        4th Year
        • The 'Your Future' booklet issued to each pupil follows up talks on positive digital portfolios and branding.
        • The Year Heads organise an excellent Key Skills day based around vital business concepts of leadership, teamwork and communication.

        3rd Year
        • There is a formal PSHCE session where the Options at GCSE are set out.
        • All pupils take the Buzz challenge, on I Could, and we ask 6th Form pupils to answer questions from the 3rd year pupils in tutor groups.

        2nd Year
        • In the formal PSHCE programme, a booklet is issued in the latter part of the year, asking pupils to think about their future choices, compare job trends across generations and consider the range of jobs in every profession.

        Shells
        • Pupils are made aware of who 'lives' in the Careers department and where we are situated in school!

While our expertise lies with the 11-18 age category, we actively keep in touch with former pupils, offer advice where suitable to former pupils of any age and are always delighted to receive offers of help from former pupils!
